Kings Ash Academy Storytelling

Year 6 have been busy partaking in the Houses of Parliament Speaker’s Awards

We planned the project by exploring a variety of literature – we then focused on our likes and dislikes. From there we created our own stories using props, puppets and images. We wanted to encourage younger children to read and enjoy more books. They can also then tell their friends and share these stories. Every person was involved in a group and each had an individual role and part of the story so that we could all cooperate, work together and share stories.

We remembered our childhood stories and we found that younger children can experience exciting and fun stories. Then they are able to read books on their own so adults don’t have to support them all the time and they get time to relax. We created our own stories to share with our school community.

It was successful because the children really enjoyed listening to and watching our story/puppet show. The younger children were all inspired and began telling their own stories. We achieved our aim of sharing and telling stories with every child in our school. It was great fun!
