In the week before half term some of our Year 6 students went to Okehampton on a residential trip.

We stayed at Bracken Tor House which is part of the Adventure Okehampton set up. The house is situated in beautiful woods above the town and offers access to the moor directly from the grounds.

On our first evening we set off on an extended night walk which took us over moorland and wooded paths with the aim of sending weary children exhausted to their beds. This was rated as fairly successful by the accompanying adults!

Some of the many activities we crammed in were based at Bracken Tor and included :

  • Mountain Boarding
  • High Ropes
  • Team Building
  • Bush Crafts

Away from the house we also took part in Weasling on Rowtor Rocks and cycled along the Granite Way cyclepath to Meldon Viaduct. Here we enjoyed a full day of Rock Climbing and Gorge Scrambling up the West Okemont river.

Our grateful thanks go to the staff at the House and to our instructors for all the activities. They all went out of their way to make our stay such a memorable and fun filled one.
