British Values at Kings Ash Academy this half term by the School Council

At Kings Ash Academy, we recognise and understand the importance of the British Values; we link them to our School Values and ensure we show them in and out of school. The British Values are very important in our school and country and are: Democracy, Tolerance, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Rule of Law.

This half term we have had a UK Parliament week: we did lots of activities understanding what Parliament is, how it is run and the importance of this. We held our own debate and then voted on making the school day shorter.

We also participated in Local Democracy Week, we understood what Local Democracy is and how this relates to MPs. We then all created our own political parties that had their own manifestos; we then voted in our selected political party who were leading for the day.

We also recognised the Queen’s 70th anniversary where we investigated and researched the differences in royal wedding. We highly value the importance of the British Values and ensure we embed them in all aspects of our school life, learning and development: this can all be evidenced in our wonderful SMSC Class Books.
